TX SB1029

to the 88th legislature of Texas,
i'm texan, born and raised. even though i live in ohio, my heart longs for bluebonnets and whataburger and buc-ees, for my late-night HEB runs and the best food in the whole world. texas is my home. and home is where i'm supposed to be able to be myself, right?
but i'm sad to be texan today. my heart is torn to shreds because i had to write this. because you want to ban gender affirming care within the state.
our lieutenant governor and our attorney general have tried to take children away from their parents. this body has debated denying this care before.
and it has sickened me every time any legislative body, any voice that does not understand that we just want to exist, debates whether i am allowed the right to live.
i have had the privilege to be on hormone replacement therapy for over a year and a half. my body has become more and more mine in that time.
you are taking away my body. you are interceding in confidential discussions between my doctors and myself. and i know y'all know what you're doing. we have told you and you do not care.
when you pass this, over the objections and personal stories of the texans you're harming, you will take my home away from me.
